Dromani is a play on the Romanes word ‘Droma’ meaning journeys and Romani, meaning Roma people. The design has been inspired by the Roma journey from India to Europe and the UK. It shows the nature of our travels, first by foot, later with horses and caravan (the Vardo) and finally by plane and car in the modern day. It shows some of the traditional skills and performing arts that Roma are known for. The Roma flag covers the shell with the background of blue and green representing the heavens and the earth, and the red wheel, the Chakra, a reminder of our Indian Heritage, also represents the itinerant tradition of the Roma people and of the journey that we are all on.
