At the Ferrars Academy children ‘learn and grow’ and this was the main inspiration behind our design. The children are proud that we have a highly inclusive community with many different cultures and religions. They felt that a unique mix of flowers in a colourful garden represented our community well and highlights how we are all different and special in our own way. The children chose the tortoise sculpture as it reminded them of the fable of the tortoise and the hare and the importance of determination, courage and confidence; some of our core values which also support our Growth Mindset philosophy of ‘Believe you can’. The tortoise won the race!
