Our Learning Programme
Through our Learning Programme, schools and community groups have designed and decorated their own small sculpture which will form part of The Short Tail Trail alongside sculptures created by professional local and national artists. Once the trail comes to an end, these smaller sculptures will go back to their forever home with the school or community group that created them.
Supported by our Education Presenting Partner, the University of Bedfordshire, the Learning Programme celebrates creativity and offers a massive platform for young people in particular to showcase their talent to the local community and visitors to Luton. Plus, the programme supports a much-loved local charity, Keech Hospice Care.
Our Schools and Community Groups
“We loved being part of The Big Trunk Trail. We got the whole school involved in designing our elephant and our winners were two children who had used our school values and our house groups in their design. We thought this was so personal to our school that we couldn’t resist using both designs on our elephant ‘Brilliant Bushmead’. To this day ‘BB’ sits in our entrance foyer and welcomes all people into our school!”
– Daniella Toyer, Assistant Headteacher of Bushmead Primary School, for The Big Trunk Trail.
